To ensure that the local community has access to the information about the project, Forth Energy is keen to promote open dialogue.

Biomass

For the Renewable Energy Plants at the Ports of Dundee, Grangemouth, Rosyth and Leith, we are consulting people on an ongoing basis, as we want to keep local people informed and give them opportunities to comment on our proposals at appropriate stages in the development process.

Public engagement so far

We started the process of letting people know about the Renewable Energy Plant projects in early 2010. For each plant, we undertook a series of public exhibitions and held meetings with community councils, environmental groups and other stakeholders. Answers to questions that people have frequently asked can be found by clicking on the FAQ tab at the top of this page.

Forth Energy submitted four separate applications, one for each plant, to the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit between August 2010 and January 2011. All the comments we received at the public exhibitions were carefully considered and reflected in the Statements of Participation that were submitted with each application.

A 28 day statutory period for making comment on the proposals to the Scottish Government followed submission of each application. A second 28 day statutory period for making comment to the Scottish Government takes place following the submission of the first consultation response from either Scottish Natural Heritage or Scottish Environment Protection Agency who are the statutory consultees to the application process.

The application documentation and copies of the exhibition banners can be accessed via the following links:

Ongoing engagement

All application documentation, newsletters and statutory opportunities for making comment on the four applications are made available via our website. We continue to meet with community councils, environmental groups and other stakeholders. In addition we have initiated Community Liaison Groups. We can be contacted at renewables@forthenergy.co.uk.
