Sustainability Studies

We are committed to sustainable development. This is illustrated in the following documents and studies:

Commitment to Sustainability

Each Renewable Energy Plant application to the Scottish Government, under Section 36 of the Electricity Act (1989), is accompanied by a Sustainability Statement which describes Forth Energy’s understanding and commitment to the wider sustainability issues. The Sustainability Statements for our applications at the Ports of Dundee, Grangemouth and Rosyth are available for download here.

Sustainability of Wood Fuel

There has been much discussion surrounding the matter of wood fuel sustainability and carbon policy as evidenced in the Manomet Report. In response to this we commissioned SISTech (the Scottish Institute of Sustainable Technology) to evaluate the assertions made. Our response to this is available for download here.

Sourcing of Wood Fuel

We have commissioned SISTech to address issues related to the sustainable sourcing of fuel supply. The response of SISTech is available to download here.

Carbon Footprint Analysis

A time-dependant carbon footprint analysis of a biomass renewable energy plant study was commissioned by Forth Energy and undertaken by SISTech. The study compared the amount of carbon emitted into the atmosphere from a proposed renewable energy plant and the amount of carbon emitted from generating the same amount of electricity from fossil fuel alternatives. The findings of the study are available to download here.
