The Port of Dundee is well placed to take advantage of Dundee’s renewable energy potential; this is in line with a national commitment to reduce carbon emissions and to promote electricity generation at a local level.

The proposal for two wind turbines at the port is part of a wider renewable strategy that promotes Dundee as a centre for renewable energy, an industry that is growing rapidly in Scotland.

The turbines would have an electrical generation capacity of between 2MW and 2.5MW each. Subject to securing planning consent, operation of the turbines could start in 2012.
